Taking care of someone with special needs is a difficult task. Oftentimes, the consideration in between Care home and Home care is often brought to the table. The primary difference is, home care services are often times cheaper compared to care home services. This is largely due to the fact that instead of having a dedicated team and living in a dedicated facility where they are cared and looked after, a home care service takes place in the patient’s very own home, with only one or two dedicated helpers to provide assistance.
Home care can also be quite personalized, as the companies behind the home care service curates often allows you to choose carers that are the perfect fit for you or your patient and have them cared for by someone with the proper compatibility.
Typically, those that undergo home care services are patients that want to be in the familiarity of their own home. Additionally, the carers that are assigned to stay with the patients are usually informed and are catered specifically for the patients’ needs. These carers also stay and live with the patient assisting them all throughout.
Considering whether taking a Care home or a Home care or so called “Domiciliary care" service is dependent on what you or your patient needs. Take into consideration the differences between a Care Home and a Domiciliary or Home Care service, as well as the state of the person that requires these services.
Would the patient need frequent medical attention and constant watch, or do they simply just need someone to look after them as they try and regain independence after being discharged? Would they require specialized equipment that could only be found in care homes or just someone to assist in their daily living?
